We twitteren ons suf in Nederland

Media_httpfarm7static_cvkmo

Het is wel opvallend hoe gekleurd Nederland is. Al ligt het natuurlijk ook aan de kleur zelf, erg opvallend.

Hashtags, a New Way for Tweets - Cultural Studies - NYTimes.com

hashtags have transcended the 140-characters-or-less microblogging platform, and have become a new cultural shorthand, finding their way into chat windows, e-mail and face-to-face conversations.

'What's Trending' Isn't Always What Matters - Jared Keller - Technology - The Atlantic

Crowdsourcing and curating on the churn of information pouring onto Twitter and Facebook each day can be an innovative way of storytelling but, despite the teachings of Adam Smith and his successors, crowds aren't always that wise. In the increasingly crowded online news ecosystem, voracious news consumers tend to depend more and more on media outlets not simply as sources of the news, but for a perspective, a voice and a specific brand of editorial judgment on what events matter most

The Lost Origin of Twitter | Epicenter | Wired.com

the 850, the first email device. I programed a system where I could fire off an email from that and set my status from anywhere. And it worked! And I was able to also at a regular interval pull my buddy list and get those updates sent to my email address. It was awesome! But the number of people who had those mobile devices was so minimal that the timing was just not right. This was 2001.

Why your best social media strategy might be not having one | Econsultancy

Brand protection is one of the biggest challenges with blind ad networks. How do I know my brand isn’t showing up next to some horrible contextual ad alongside negative publicity about my company?

Simply put, how do I know my brand isn’t being associated with porn, drugs, etc.? The answer with blind networks is you really don’t. We’ve all seen examples of adverts gone wrong on the FAIL blog.

On Facebook, the relevant question that needs to be posed is “how do I know my brand isn’t being shown next to some kid’s drunk snaps from the night before?” Some may say there’s no such thing as bad publicity, but I’d bet many brand managers (and lawyers) would argue otherwise.

Israeli weapons In Libya? How @acarvin and his Twitter followers debunked sloppy journalism - storify.com

In this particular case, a rumor perpetuated by several news sources was easily debunked by a group of people on Twitter who don't know each other and likely will never meet each other in person.

The thing they all have in common? They're my tweeps. My Twitter followers are smart, curious, and skeptical. And they're generous in sharing their time and skills to help me out when I need it. Who needs a million followers on Twitter when you've got amazing people like these helping you out?

Twitter Arms Marketers With More Tools to Target Users

Twitter president of revenue Adam Bain spoke at the Ad Age Digital Conference on Wednesday and introduced a new dashboard for marketers that allows them to get detailed information about who is following their accounts. Now, marketers can see over time how their follower base has grown, what interests they have, the gender break downs, where they’re located, how engaged they are and who they follow. Customers can isolate any one segment and get additional information about that audience.
