Brands thinking of their social media strategy can all too easily think that Facebook is the answer. And all too often it isn’t. Everybody isn’t on Facebook and Facebook isn’t the right place for all brands to play. In fact there are often many other more suitable places. Big numbers are impressive, but they shouldn’t blind us from a sensible, business aims-led approach to using social media.

This is a real conversation

We dug this data set so much that we actually used it in testing the newest set of analytics, and re-incorporating the coolest one of all, the re-tweet graphs. If you look at the data here, you can actually see a real conversation or flow of content and interaction from users to other users. Generally, this only occurs for some data sets - when we do a "lol" or "haha" search, for example, we're not really targeting a community of content. When we target a community of content, we can actually identify the users and interactions, and it becomes much more compelling data.

In the last five years, early adopters have received a stage to influence others. Social Media gave them the screen power.
Early social media users have grown to be the main influencers, and their influence is far beyond technology. They have become the new celebrities. As part of their positioning, they are expected to act as early adopters, much the same as celebrities are needed to keep updated with fashion.
